![]() ![]() Going through the south side of Chicago into the very NW corner of Indiana is not scenic. The Art Institute and other museums have wheelchairs for rent, as does Navy Pier, so your mom doesn't have to spend a lot of time on her feet (provided you are willing to push). Plus it's a good way to sightsee sitting down! There are also sightseeing trolley and bus tours. It's 90 minutes with commentary by a CAF docent about the river, its history and the many architecturally significant buildings along the river. You and your mother may enjoy taking the Chicago Architecture Foundation river cruise if it's a nice day to be outdoors. Once you've narrowed your choices down to a few, you can always come back here and ask for opinions about them, if you want to. Then just look for hotels using your favorite search engine. Chicago is a convention city, so hotel rates can be high if there is a big demand for rooms. Be sure to look at the sticky on "Dates to Avoid" on the desktop version of this forum. It's best to stay in the River North or Magnificent Mile neighborhoods as they are close to tourist attractions, a broad selection of dining options and shopping. ![]()
